Clearly not the same, but the experience can be. If the Barnard student intends to participate in clubs, Greek life, etc. their college experience will be essentially the same. All of these activities are joint CC/BC. However, many Barnard students do not want that experience and will choose to focus on Barnard and that is one of the things that makes the relationship unique. I would recommend that any female student who is interested in these schools visit both. Most will know exactly which is a better fit…and of course Barnard is an easier admit.

There are many reasons, OP. Some people prefer a women's college. Some people prefer a smaller environment. Some people prefer the difficult but much easier admissions rate (around 8% vs 4%).

Barnard is unique in that it has its own faculty and curriculum. Students don't have to take core at Columbia, which is great for premed kids. Save tons of waste! Its postbac is also great. In general, I think if you are interested in professional degrees MD JD, Barnard is a better environment than CC.

One benefit is Barnard Women don't have to do Core.

Not sure the confusion. One is an all women's liberal arts college and the other is a massive university.
