My advice for anyone that wants to go into IB...play a competitive nonrev sport at Yale. This isn't as hard as it seems.

Or rev. I worked at a big bank with a bunch of Yale (and Princeton, Dartmouth, etc) football players.

This guy is explaining what so many parents here don’t understand. Your kid can take countless APs, win science fairs, etc but a lot of success is networking and having the “it” factor. IYKYK.

Agree. And I know what that it factor is.
btw, I love HY Harry! Can't believe one of his tweets is on this board!

And at least 50% of upper middle to upper class kids appear to be pursuing it. There is going to be such a massive glut of economics and finance majors in a few years.

Really? You think some of the richest professional men in America are going to be yelling at AI on a weekend over the phone instead of an overworked, highly-qualified minion?

Wealthy people DEMAND personal service. Anyone who has worked for these types knows the amount of time spent iterating does not reduce when productivity or technology improves.

Also, not having minions makes you look like Managing Director of Not Very Much. "Have your people call my..."

Trump is ruining the industry. He nearly decimated corporate law, but they decided to give him legal support.

Absolutely no recent grad hired as an "analyst" in IB is spending their days golfing, drinking, and watching sports.

It's a soul crushing grind for a couple of years with 80-100 hour weeks doing absolutely nothing interesting.

Everyone knows these are competitive jobs.

It’s more competitive than in past cycles

Maybe it is…but the tweet doesn’t say that…but honestly, it’s not any more competitive this year vs last as example.

AI still isn’t cutting into the numbers by much and Wall Street is having a great 2025.

The best faux-meritocracy industry to ever exist. Just a bunch of boarding school grads hiring each other and sniffing out others.

A lot of Dcum children are interested in ib / buy side…do they know what kind of work they have to put in to land it in 2026?

Return offers after summers are fewer, internship cycles are more competitive — kkr partner just posted the below that’s making the rounds.
