A week off for any reason is fine.
You don't know if they are traveling or the executor or the sole remaining caretaker of elderly relatives or what - but even if it were none of those things, it would be fine. The only reason the death is relevant is that it excuses the lack of earlier notice.

Maybe they are even taking LWOP or personal time if official leave isn't a week. Get over it.

I'm not close to my sibling and I 100% understand the need for leave and to grieve. Besides the funeral and family stuff, some religions and traditions require a mandatory grief period.

Did sibling live far away?
My family is in England. I get 3 days of BL for a sibling or parent. If going to England to attend a funeral and take care of affairs though I’m sure I’d be gone longer than a week.

Normal. Our company has a 3 days standard bereavement leave but at managers discretion it can be more. I 8 years of managing I've had about 3 people asking for more than that and granted it.
