Honors classes are just a way to weed out the undesirable students, so the good students can actually have a learning environment for 45 min.

If your school offers a cohorted HIGH class, you should be getting some additional assignments and projects. My kid read 2 extra books and did model UN in 6th. But that's pretty minimal. They could create a more challenging course.

English and science are not cohorted outside the magnets.

My kid found math (AIM, now called pre-algebra) and French 1A/B to be the only somewhat challenging courses.

There are a couple compressed math classes that move faster than Math 6 and kids generally have to be at least somewhat advanced in math to be placed in those.

And then taking Spanish 1 or French 1 in one year rather than spreading it out over two years is generally considered advanced, and some schools limit it to only certain students (ie those with MAP-R scores above a certain level.)

Correct-These are all rigorous.
