Try Hertz next time. For my last rental I received a message to go straight to the shuttle which took me to the garage where I had my pick of any car on the lot. I don’t even have special status. It was so convenient.

It's to upsell on the insurance and add-ons like GPS etc, those things have huge profit margins.

Was on the same flight as a colleague a few years ago on Christmas Eve (not planned, we both just happened to have booked the same flight to visit family).

Colleague went to a rental car line, told me later she waited 90 minutes to get her car. I had joined the rental car program and got an email telling me where my car was located, I went straight to it and left the parking lot, no line at all.

This. After using Turo for the first time several years ago I'll never go back to the old-fashioned car rental companies. Sometimes the car is waiting for me in the airport garage. Other times I take an Uber to it. But the one thing I never have to do is wait in line. Oh, and Turo is cheaper too.

I feel your pain. We spent almost 3 hours at Next Car in Puerto Rico, then I grabbed the last enterprise rental through Costco and we just went back to the airport to get the enterprise car.

In comparison, 25 minutes don’t seem too bad, but yes, with everything electronic, not sure why it takes so long, unless they don’t have cars so wait for people to return the cars.

Dh is the one who arranges rentals but every time we go we just walk up, grab keys and go. We don’t even have to talk to anyone unless it’s overseas. I think he likes enterprise?

They have everyone wait in one line, those who have a reservation and those who don't. It's infuriating and stupid. People with a reservation should be able to pre-scan ID and CC and go straight to the attendant in the lot, show ID and get the car.

20 years ago I waited in a long line tike that at LAX. Then I joined all the frequent renter programs (free), you either go straight to the car or have a separate much shorter line. Next time you rent join the program.
