You’re describing all DCPS/DCPCS preschools….

A quick browse of your many topics here in the last half year and you’re all over the place. You wanted something for your two-year old that was pre-preschool, but not daycare. But you don’t want a PK3 where they sit in desks. But you want a STEM focused elementary school. And also 18 other things in your replies that none align. You have conflicting, and honestly likely unrealistic, wants. Figure out your priorities. And also maybe try posting anonymously next time. I recognized this eye roll of a username immediately and it reminded me to go back and check the prior posts for a refresher.

NW, DC; Yes if deemed worthwhile over other avenues. Waldorf schools are new to me.. could you provide any background?

most of the dcps elementary schools are for preK small grade level classrooms with a play-based curriculum (lots of stations and carpet circle time etc.). K tends to be a little more formal

I'm not aware of any preK 3, PreK 4, or even K classes that are primarily "seated." My child's DCPS K still had lots of floor/carpet time, centers, hands-on stuff, etc.
But you might also want to look at School for Friends (private) or Wildflower (charter).

Reggio at Brent ES (pre-k is mixed age, but unlike Montessori it’s Pk3/4 NOT to K).

Some schools have combined PK3 and pk4 ages. Is that what you're after?

Reggio at Friendship Armstrong.
I think you'll find most DCPS preschools are play-based (or "work" if you're being precious about it) and not primarily seated.

As in.. Kids are still provided a curriculum, but are able to free flow a bit, learning at their own pace vs primarily seated education. Also, rather in smaller classrooms and with only their grade level?
I know about School-Within-School from another thread(seems fairly tough to impossible to get into), and wondering if there are any others.
If there are any notable Montessori's, public or private, I would be curious of that as well.
