Add another 10 to 15% for all the outsourced jobs.

Companies know they can overwork and underpay these new grads, so they are even more likely to hire them.

In 2024 over 418,000 OPT authorizations were granted with major employers like Amazon, Google, and Microsoft hiring thousands of OPT students INSTEAD of US college graduates. Right now there is NO limit to the number of nonimmigrants who may participate in OPT.

And it is BOTH political parties who love cheap labor:

In 2008, the George W. Bush Administration extended the maximum period of OPT from 12 months to 29 months for F-1 students who had completed a degree in science,
technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM). In 2016, the Obama Administration further extended the maximum OPT period to 36 months for those with STEM degrees.

And it is PER degree level so a student can get a bachelor's degree in STEM work three years then go back and get a masters and work another three years.

Why are we allowing the international students to study here in the first place?

We are a country of 340 million people. We have the best universities in the world.

There is zero reason for why we are importing all these H1 visa holders except to undercut wages and opportunities for domestic students.

And unsurprisingly, Trump and Republicans are very keen to get more H1 visas into this country.

The US government under Trump makes it difficult to hire domestic talent. Republicans love India instead.

There is no America First among Republicans today. So corporations will continue to outsource or import rather than hire Americans.

It's a difficult situation for young people today.

People impacted by AI will chase other jobs.

Would you want to be replaced and have to chase other jobs? At that point today’s job market will be considered the good old days.

Is your life perfect? No? Then that's a job waiting for someone to do. AI took your job? Do one of those jobs.
