I was just going to write that...I was at a 9:15 u13 girls match recently and went into the porto-john and the person before me must have just smoked some good stuff. It was strong. I thought to myself...who needs to get smoked up before a U13 girls match at 9:15am...then I read this response and I sort of get it. Maybe we should all get stoned prior. We might enjoy it more.

I think it is a SafeSport violation. If a complain is made to them, there is supposed to be an investigation or inquiry. Without SafeSport certification/ approval, Coaches can't work with minors in US Soccer.

What is legal to do has nothing to do with it. That just means you can't be charged with a crime for possession or use. Even if cannabis was legal to use in the state where this is from, doesn't mean you can show up to a job stoned. Alcohol is legal for over 21, but you'd likely be fired if you showed up to your job drunk. Same with pot. Should be addressed with the club. If they are OK with a youth coach being stoned while in their employ and they are paying them, you should run as far from that club as possible.

I remember how one of the Revolution threads that was eliminated there was a lengthy number of pages of a coach that was stoned just about every time he was around the team it coached. Seems like alcohol isn’t the only substance being abused there.

You're going to have to contact the organization and ask about the rules. I suspect that legally he's allowed to do this, since cannabis is legal - the law does not mention working with minors under the influence of cannabis. It should.

If you cant drink before coaching why would anyone assume you can smoke before coaching?

My kid used to guest on a team whos coach i suspected was on pills. When he was sober he was great when he wasnt he was completely reckless. You never knew which coach youd get.
