Blinds ARE window treatments.

I did this too once, but it took me (a very basic and infrequent sewer) hours upon hours, a lot of it spent doing research on buckram etc. And my euro pleats are noticeably DIY.

Love pinch pleat linen or silk solid drapes for a traditional home and I agree, the cost is insane. Is it really more complicated to sew one curtain than an entire coat?

I think the idea problem is it’s as or more expensive to sew ONE coat. Commission a COM coat made in Arlington or even Alabama and report back.

That’s…that’s a window treatment? For an interrogation room, but still a window treatment.

Without COM, there are some good options online that operate factories in China. Two Pages Curtains is one example.

OP here and I want to pay the workroom! I appreciate what they do! I’m just trying to save a little on buying the fabric, measuring and install because I feel like I’ve done this enough times to know what specifics I want etc.

In case anyone is finding this thread for research, I found Regal Drapes.com and Marthandash.com that seem to do customers own material for non-trade people. I think there are more. I’ll report back if I have success!

I have not purchased window treatments, but have found some incredible furniture items on Gone Girl Home. Have also sold with them and its a smooth process. They do not have super discounted prices, but everything is in great condition and the owners have great taste in what they accept imo.

Oh, excited to read it. Thanks!

I’ve been happy with Two Pages. Still thousands of dollars but 1/3 the cost of The Shade Store.

"My house is not dowdy you white linen human. "

"I sort of agree that custom window treatments tend to be dowdy, although I’m sure everyone on DCUM has the absolute best non-dowdy curtains. "

I'm dying reading this thread.

Buy secondhand ones on eBay or FBMP. Alisa Bovino has some great guides. You can save a bundle if you’re patient.

I know we had an epic thread. Custom window treatments are still so expensive!!

Anyone have a great source for lined and interlined, pleated panels and roman shades with Customer’s Own Material? I feel like this might be the best way to save money, even though I know a workroom will have to mark up the labor more if they can’t do a retail markup on the fabric. But there are enough places now to get fabric close to wholesale that maybe it’s worth it? I can do all the measuring and installation.
