Yeah, no way my kid would go to that activist, crime ridden, hellhole.

They should be able to get to classes without daily protesters taking over the campus and possibly having events like their graduation disrupted.

Any other IVY or top 30 school is better than this place.

They had a 4% admissions rate last year (2025). 96% of their applicants were rejected.

The University plans to finalize a decision by the time it releases early admissions results mid-December.

Make sure your DC applies to Columbia this year.

Make sure DC does not apply. This is a sinking ship.

There are only two schools: an ivy school, or a non-ivy school.

You probably still need stats to get in even after 20% expansion.

They have already increased undergrad enrollment over the years. When I went to Columbia College, the class size was 800. I believe it's now around 1100-1200 per class? (not including engineering, general studies or barnard). They already farm out core curriculum teaching to grad students -many are not great. And I'd hate to see the academics further diluted. But they run it like a business...

Beyond the increase, I had no idea course registration was so difficult as mentioned in a 2022 article linked in the story.

The registration and housing issues are UC like.

I believe Columbia already expanded 15-20% just this last cycle. Now again?

They want to beat Penn and Cornell for the largest ivy?
