That's weird. At my kids' public school, students recite the Pledge of Allegiance every morning. We are in suburban New England.

Yes, can sing it and play it on their respective instruments.

Yes, but mainly from attending so many sporting events. They recite the pledge of allegiance at this school but don't sing the national anthem.

Highly doubt it. They might recognize it if they heard it and were told it's the national anthem but you'd get blank stares if you asked.

Our elementary school sings it every day. Kids are not required to sing it, but they are required to be respectful. They all know it!

It doesn’t mean sh*t anymore. We’re a nation in steep decline.

Yes. My kids have been on swim team for over a decade and it’s sung or played before each meet.

There's no way they've never heard it...sorry that's just not believable

My son watches sports so he’s heard it a lot. Also the Oh Canada song with hockey games.

My daughter not so much.

My kids learn it during music class at school (DCPS). All 3 (youngest is 7) would know it; oldest would be able to sing in straight through no problem.

We were at an event (not sports, more like a parade) and they kicked off the event with the national anthem.

Our friends were with us with their 10.5 year old son, and she said “I don’t think they’ve ever heard that song. Have you, Sammy?” He didn’t know it at all. Never heard it before or could recognize it as the national anthem.

Do your kids know it? Is this common? We don’t go to a ton of sporting events but my kids (11,10, 6) all know it.

They are not immigrants.
