Yes this happens. Not so much a concern as they get older. But I would ask their teacher why they have so much Chromebook access and the time to be able to do this in class.

OP our kid did this starting in MS. Thanks for highlighting this for elementary parents.

Many teachers in our cluster are moving back to paper assignments.

I'm so glad things worked out for your kids but not all kids are doing great. The data clearly show significant drops in math and literacy rates coinciding with the rise of smartphones and edtech

My daughter and her best friend used to share a Google Drive doc to contact each other, back when they were little. Yet somehow they were also avid readers and straight A students. And now they're both taking a heavy course load of APs in high school. Still straight As.

Why are we giving kids one to one internet connected devices IN ELEMENTARY schools? It has been YEARS of seeing dropping math and literacy rates coinciding with the explosion of EtdTech in schools. Wtaf?

Mine doesn't do that. Why? Because they have extremely limited chrome book use time in their 4th grade class. There just isn't time for this.

"Collaborative" in the sense that they use the Google Docs to share links of videogame sites and other fun distractions as MCPS blocks other sites they use on the Chromebooks in class. It's a big issue. I shared the game site links with the MCPS IT person at my kid's middle school but he never responded.

How do they using Google Drive to “text” each other during the school? I don't even know how to do it as an adult. In other way, shows me steps how to check for me as a low tech person.
