Op exactly! I don’t want to move permanently but would like to rent for a year or two, and check out some other places.

Once DH retires in a few years, this will be us. I’d like to rent our house and spend 6 months in various locations where I have never lived such as the desert SW, Mackinac Island, Montana, etc.

Fwiw I live in NYC so I’d sublet my place for a year or two but would not move entirely.
