Sorry, but why would kids in the SEC and Big 10 leave their schools to go to VT just for football? And didn't the PSU coach get fired because he wasn't good? Sounds like a risky move to me.



It’s a different world in college football today. If Virginia Tech is prepared to spend big on NIL they’ll certainly get good players. Whether Franklin is a good coach is another question. But VT clearly wants to be a competitive football school.

Another geed who doesn't understand that athletic department budgets are separate from schools' general academic budgets.

As is often the case, the kids that the coach recruited will follow him. A bunch of Penn State kids will transfer to VT because whoever Penn State hires will want "their" kids. Look at what happened at Colorado...most of the team was cut loose for Prime's recruits.

If VT got really good again maybe more kinds that are admitted would enroll in the future. Football can be a yield tool.


VT already draws a lot of kids, no? Do they have a low enrollment problem or are they trying to compete with Big 10 and SEC schools? Because if they are, that's not going to work. People like VT because it's VT. I don't see them as competing against the Ohio States of the world.


Read carefully. Enrollment isn’t a problem, but they could stand to improve their yield rate. If you don’t think good football changes the yield equation, I can’t help you.

Was this the case before they got good at football in the 90’s? Football literally laid the groundwork for the culture we know at VT today.

He will improve the program and he is going to get some of the tops players in the dmv area as he did at Ped State.

6 of the top 10 players from Virginia went to Penn State last year, many of those top players will be looking very closely at Va Tech.

Va tech would love to win 9-10 games every year, at Ped State that's not expectable.
