Ugg I have one of these coworkers now. Very junior, relatively new, and 200% a jerk.

The best way to handle it is if you have to reply talk to them like whatever they said was literal then ask for an artifact.

They want to sow seeds of doubt to hurt your credibility. So, you innocently ask for the receipt.

“Thanks for the catch Larla. I have the document up and I’m on page 6, paragraph 3, line 4. It says…Can you take a screenshot and send where it says xyz…”

How would anyone possibly know the answer to that? Unless they went to the person and gave them a lie detector test and asked them if they were being passive aggressive?
This is incredibly subjective.
Maybe the hetter question is, when you feel someone at work is being passive aggressive, how often does a neutral colleague agree with you that the comment was problematic? If others don’t read it the way you do, then it’s possible you are being oversensitive. If everyone reads it and says “damn…” then the person is either burnt passive aggressive or just doesn’t have great e-communication skills.

What percentage of the time would you say you're right? It's too complicated to give details, so I'm leaving this vague on purpose.
