I am in good shape. I was an athlete in college. I played basketball. I'm still fit like an athlete. DW used to be slim. Now she is overweight. I still find her very attractive, but I worry about her health.

Wife and I have always stayed pretty fit. We’ve always given each other carte blanche in time and money to stay healthy. That said, I’m 54 and she’s 52. I’m probably about 5 lbs away from being at my best (abs, etc). With peri she’s finding it harder to keep the physique she’s always had - we’re both doing our best but not putting pressure on ourselves.

Wife has started lifting this year which she loves and she looks amazing. At our age bodies just seem to eat muscle and put you on a trajectory to being frail in your later years. I’ve always love her body but with the lifting she just looks great and she feels super strong (her words).

I’ve made changes this year also in how I approach both physical and mental fitness. I’ve started seeing a psych to address anxiety and adhd that I’ve worked around for years. Plus, I’ve formed a better relationship with my docs (cardiologist, gp, urologist) to make sure I doing the right things. As for the physical aspect, I lift every other day and am cycling 4-6 days per week, paying better attention to sleep, etc.

Being in good shape and struggling are not mutually exclusive OP. I struggle in the sense that I have to really work at it - track calories, go to the gym at least five days a week, I have used GLP-1s - but I am (for now) in shape.

We're both probably around 20 lbs overweight. I lift and she just doesn't care. She looks good though so whatever.

Yes, we're both regular but not fanatical exercisers. In our 50s we don't look like fitness models, but it's nice to be able to go for an hour jog or 4 hour hike together without getting tired.

We're both down a lot of weight from the Covid years. I'm in better shape than she is, but that's largely because I'm a referee in my spare time so I'm very active. I don't actually work out or anything.

Yes, but kind of the opposite. We both have low BMIs. I am more toned because I like pilates and lifting. He is a runner and has better cardio than I do, but looks soft (but thin) despite all the running.

I'm the wife, I work out 5x a week and I think I'm pretty fit. Flat stomach, no jiggle anywhere. I wish I could be waiflike but I'm a sturdy peasant woman.
Husband has the body of Jack Skellington.

I’m fit and in shape. Wife is fat and that bothers me. Told her to lose weight. She’s working on it

DH is massively overweight. I love him to bits but I am very worried about his health.

Or do either of you struggle with it?
