It's too bad they turn all these pretty places into ugly townhome communities.

+1
Loved that place. We became friends w/ the caretaker of rhe farm and his family. I really think the could have done a nice development there with green space and larger houses. Instead you have these houses wedged into each other and this row faces a major road yet no real access onto it. Terribly done. They were built cheaply (same builder and models as fords landing, that subdivision right off 395 in dc, etc). I think EYA was the builder? They have not aged well

If you care at all about particulate matter, that's going to be an issue there too. I used to drive through their every morning and I would never want to live right there (though if you are retired and live there part-time, I could see the appeal)

It’s not that close to Little Langley. You’re thinking of the Evans Mill Pond townhouses on the other side of Route 123.

We used to skate on the pond and feed the ducks.

McLean has changed a lot. And not in a good way.

Change is inevitable. McLean isn't immune from it, even if it happens more slowly there than most places.

It's the best place we've ever lived and I say that as a Maryland natives who's also lived in NW and other parts of NoVa.

I wanted to love this house. But I hate the whole super grand foyer with the spiral staircase. And this one is on Chain Bridge Road and needs new kitchen and bathroom cabinets. For OP, I wouldn't move there with a 10 year old new to the area. Plenty of great family friendly neighborhoods all around the area.

The only people I know moving there recently or keeping an eye on the real estate are newly empty nesters looking to downsize but want to stay in McLean. I've never known anyone younger than high school age living there.

Change happens. They made a lot of money developing high-end townhouses.

It's sort of a worst case scenario--no privacy, since the houses are on top of each other, but no community since there are few public gathering spots. And because a gated community is an anomaly in our area, it was a hassle to arrange deliveries and service people.

Depending on your perspective, you could argue it's a best case scenario because you get a gated community if you travel a lot and value security, but it's also near some ungated communities on the same side of Route 123 that are full of kids.

The HOA fee is a turnoff. You seem to get a clubhouse, security, snow removal for over $6000 a year.
I think a 10 year old would be limited to whoever lives in the community. It is not walkable.

All this. That door is basically unusable because it faces out onto Dolley Madison. I’ve never understood why the builder did that. There is a lot of noise, light and car pollution from Dolley Madison. You could never open those windows and you won’t want to look out. Friends who have toured those homes say they were not constructed well. It’s an older community- not at all suitable for young kids who just want to walk down the street to see a friend. There’s really no street - just the line of garages behind the attached homes. And it’s a gated community.

We're moving back to the D.C. area after many years abroad. My husband would like to be in McLean or Great Falls to be close to his office. What is the issue with this "townhouse"? It's been on the market for almost six months, with a modest price reduction. Is it an actual townhouse? It looks more like an SFH from the photos. I'm also wondering how the neighborhood would be for kids (DD is 10). Any insights into the neighborhood would be much appreciated.
