Start after Thanksgiving just in case. That will give you three weeks to get any side effects that may occur sorted out.

And regarding the "therapeutic dose," I've never gone up. I've been at 2.5 the whole time and have lost 30lbs so far and am continuing to lose 1-2lbs a week.

(This is how I know the hair loss is a side effect of the medicine itself and not "rapid weight loss" like people would like you to believe). I'm going to discontinue after I lose another 10lbs and hope for the best. I don't want to go bald!

I’m the poster above you and also started in July. I was on 2.5 for 3 months then went up. The hair loss was shocking for a while. I didn’t mention that. But it has really slowed down this past month and seems to be more normal hair loss now. And I’m so pleased with feeling good and the weight loss, I don’t care about the hair. I’ll get a wig if I go bald! I’m glad this is working for you too.

I would wait. I had terrible headaches for my first two weeks of Zepbound. They were so awful I didn't know if I would be able to continue. No one needs that at Thankgiving.

Almost immediately I had a lot of food aversions too. I had more food aversions on 2.5 than I do now on the 5 dose. But yes, I lost weight quickly. The side effects slowly went away and I didn't have the same ones when I went up a dose a few months later. I stayed on 2.5 for 3 months.

I was not able to eat a lot of food right away and it really affected me quickly.

Don't wait, but do be careful with greasy foods. That was the only thing that gave me trouble.

i would start and consider staying on the first dose for 2 months if you are having side effects. Im on Wegovy and have much more weight to loose than you do but its soooo amazing during functions with food at them not to be thinking about the food the whole time. I can enjoy one or two things but am not trying to calculate in my head - "how am I going to get one more of those", or "are people watching that im eating too much". I can enjoy the people and event instead.

I went on a vacation that included a few buffet meals the month I started and I was still able to eat but just a smaller amount and it was great.

I would also start as soon as you can, but be prepared for comments/questions from friends/family you may see during the holidays that you're not eating as much or enough. I started Wego a few weeks ago and am dealing with that now. Definitely not a reason to delay starting, but something to be prepared for.

I would start ASAP. Unless the idea of gaining an additional 10lb over the holidays is appealing to you.
I also wouldn't wait to start the week of Thanksgiving- I, too, had some nausea and fatigue the first 3-4 days after my first dose and could barely get 800 calories into my body those days. It would have been a miserable Thanksgiving. But, that subsided, and I had no issues for the second (or subsequent) doses. But, if my second dose was due the week of Thanksgiving and I didnt yet know that I'd feel fine on the second dose, I'd have just delayed it until the Friday after. But really, no sense in waiting.

I will be the sole dissenter. My first week was rough for the first 3 days. Second was a lot better.

If you start today and repeat next Monday, you will probably by ok. But starting next week would rough if you end up like me.

Don't wait. I started in December and it helped me avoud overeating during the holidays. Also, it was the lowest dose so my appetite was not as suppressed as it was later so I coukd still enjoy the food but less of it.

Agree with everyone above. I started ozempic and had no side effects at all (other than eating less) for the first two months. Only when I went up to 1 mg did I have gastrointestinal issues and that lasted 3 weeks.

Don’t wait. You can still eat— you’ll just be eating normal portions for once.

I wouldn’t wait! You can still eat taking it and when I first started I dropped 10 lbs fast, I think it was water weight/inflammation and it made me feel great.

I wouldn't wait. When you start you aren't on a therapeutic dose, just a low dose to get your body used to it. So you shouldn't have extreme side effects (and if you do, it's probably a sign this is not the medication for you), and it can help curb your appetite during cookie season (you can still eat them you just won't gorge) and set you up nicely for any NY resolutions.

I just hit 1 year postpartum, started on Wegovy 8 months ago when breastfeeding didn't work out, and am down ~55 lbs. Good luck!

Should I wait to start zepbound until after Thanksgiving? After the December holidays? Not so much so that I can eat a lot of treats, but so that I don't have inconvenient side effects for a lot of family and friend get-togethers and travel. I'm 1 year postpartum and ready to lose the baby weight plus a little more, about 50 lbs total (220, goal is 170). Thanks!
