This is 100% dependent on how many lanes your HS has for practice. The number of lanes will dictate the number of swimmers they can have and that will be the cut point. This is a different number depending on the county and/or school.

My child's school has the same standard basically (200m warmup and then they timed those two things). No cuts based on that. Just have to be willing to keep showing up.

Which school? This will be very school dependent and there's no way to answer without knowing which school you are asking about.

Do they take everyone who completed the tryout? Looking at my son’s HS swim and dive page, the swimmers are only asked to complete 100 IM and 50 free at time trials. That seems pretty easy?
