My child couldn't apply since they are a nationally top rated recruited athlete and have to train all summer. Remember that when you see someone bemoan athletes getting someone's college admission spot.

My kid applied (Chinese) and really put a lot of work into the application. He really wants this, but had to remind him that while he has a reasonable shot, its far from a sure thing.

I haven't though much about the attractive of this to college admissions, but I'd hope its a boost for students looking for foreign language and linguistic programs.

I think the virtual academic year program is only offered in the fall semester. My son applied over the summer (he just finished 9th grade) and he was waitlisted. We've also lived abroad so I wonder if that put him at a disadvantage for already having experience with another language.

The deadline that just passed was for the summer abroad program.

Its pretty well known. If your kid is interested in languages and linguistics, it would have already been on your radar.

My kid did it. I know it. But it's still toxic behavior to post the day after the deadline.

I'm the OP. 3rd kid - freshman.
Missed the deadline because I literally remembered to look today. Getting a game plan for next year.
A bit annoyed at my DC for forgetting, but do they ever pick a freshman? Would have been the virtual academic year program, probably?

I thought the number of countries is much reduced this year. Glad it is surviving in some or another! Great program. My kid did it last summer - amazing experience.

Yes. Kid applied. Older sibling was selected several years ago. Fabulous program!! No idea how it is viewed in regards to college applications.

This is funny. What does "ballet mom" mean?

The deadline was yesterday. Whose kid applied? Has anyone ever done it?
Still considered a Tier 1 EC/honor?
