Why? It's so funny you said that, because I had a peanut butter sandwich for dinner this weekend and got a few cold sores the next day.

I'm the one from upthread who takes Valtrex and even that didn't work to stop this round.

Mine are usually brought on by either stress or an illness. I keep a prescription of Valtrex filled and take it as soon as I can feel one starting. It clears it up right away, before it turns into a blister.

I usually get 2-3 a year. Usually on lip or around my nose. However, after the covid shot I got probably 2 every months for the 2 years I had the shot.
I don’t get covid shot anymore and it’s calmed back down to normal.

I take a lysine pill the moment I feel a cold sore starting and then take one morning and night for the next several days. Generally stops the cold sore before it even develops.

NO OP but I've had cold sores pretty much every time i've gotten my period my whole life. I've tried Lysine but it was super hard on my stomach.

I do Valtrex now for a few days if I'm having an outbreak and that works for a few months at a time.

Get an anti-viral from your doctor. It’s a herpes virus.

Why don't you go on Valtrex for the herpes?

Pp is right-the lysine arginine balance really influences how often a person gets cold sores and certain foods really push toward an unfavorable ratio because of high arginine.

I don’t remember the foods except I think pinto beans and coconut it’s but easy to find a list. So be careful about how much of those foods you eat or be sure to take lysine if you are eating a lot of high arginine foods.
