No one calls it sub cover. Teachers have a limit to how often they can cover. In the past we had to fill out a slip every day we covered the day of.

I love them. Treat them nicely and everything will be fine. Now the nurse is another story.

It varies wildly. At my Bethesda MS we have had some really crass people who shouldn’t be in a building with kids, some really mean ogres, and some absolute imbeciles. When we get someone good, it’s a miracle.

I work for MCPS and it really varies school to school. The ones in my DD's school are fantastic. I don't come in very often but when I do they recognize me right off the bat and know who my DD is and what class she is in. One of the ladies volunteers for the PTA and often goes to school wide events.
