I agree. I'm MAGA and notice the same on the right. I think our adversaries benefit from pushing people away from the center and into extremes. I'm suspicious of basically any message that attacks the middle, because the middle is normie, mainstream America that almost no actual American finds offensive.

I’ve seen some posts on DCUM that I’ve wondered if they weren’t from foreign agents. They usually say that the 2020 election was fraudulent and stolen from the Democrats, so the only recourse is violence. While I wish the Democrats had won, they had their chance to legally protest the results. Undermining voter confidence in the electoral process and advocating internal violence does nothing but weaken America. Lincoln had it eight when he said, “A house divided against itself cannot stand.” I’ve seen multiple experts who study autocracy and the fight against it who all say that the best way to oppose it is to strengthen societal bonds.

By all means, oppose the policies and the politicians promoting it, but seek and find common ground with fellow citizens - family members, friends, neighbors, acquaintances, etc. They are NOT the enemy, don’t turn them into one. Everyone is just primarily trying to get their family through life and secondarily promote America’s interests, they may just disagree about the best way to accomplish those goals. Where they are wrong (and in the free country we want to preserve, people are allowed to have their opinion, even when it’s wrong), instead of treating them as if they are stupid/evil, look at where they’re coming from and find ways to show them that your side addresses their concerns better. We need to peel of Republican voters to vote and protest on our side against dictatorship, not make them feel they need to defensively entrench themselves with MAGA against liberal attack.

Their criticisms of the U.S. frequently align with mine, but it's like in recent months I've felt a sense of cynicism of them toward America and the Democratic party that makes me feel uncomfortable. I think it's because we're seeing the Trump administration at peak power, deporting innocent immigrants and using their might to chill free speech. These criticisms toward centrist Dems, that they're no better than Republicans, feel so quaint.

That they can still treat both parties with the same type of ire at this moment in time feels delusional and offensive. One party is obviously worse than the other, and recent events should've crystallized that for them. Maybe they're just callous people, but I'm actually beginning to think many of them aren't even Americans.

Do you agree? Should this have been an obvious realization years ago?

It's fair to say both of our major political parties have reached an intolerable level of dysfunction and that replacing them may be a more feasible option than hoping for reform but any attempt to equate the awfulness of the rwo parties during the Trump era is silly.

Trump's lack of integrity at the POTUS position is unprecedented.

OP I don't disagree but I think in some ways it's easier to criticize the Dems because there is potential for change. So for example lefties cheering on Zohran and prodding AOC to challenge Schumer for his seat.

Whereas the other sides feels just hopefully broken and not something we can impact.

Found it. The video is well-researched and well-supported. The creator is not pushing any partisan view here.

But he does expose a foreign (likely Russian) disinformation operation against the USA:

I am MAGA, and I agree with you, as far as foreign interference and intentional efforts to divide and weaken America by supporting extremists at both ends of the political spectrum.

Let me see if I can find a worthwhile explanation to post; stand by

You’re right and this is a known thing. Search up the community ActiveMeasures on Reddit. They sometimes talk about it. What often happens is popular communities get taken over by different moderators if the admin/founder of the sub-reddit goes MIA after awhile. And if you’ve been in progressive/liberal communities for awhile, you’ll probably notice that eventually many start to become more authoritarian and “tankie.”

You do get that this is exactly the type of post that foreign users trying to sow discord write, right?

I did actually realize the irony in what I was posting, but eh, it is what it is. I wanted to vent and it's not like I can prove myself on an anon board.
