Afford what? We did it all ourselves with workbooks - dollar tree, amazon, print out for free, educational apps. It costs nothing to work on english and math 15-30 minutes a few days a week.

Some kids might be studying outside school but I assure you it is possible to get high enough scores to get into one of the magnets without that effort.

When our DD was accepted into the humanities magnet we had no idea it was based on test scores. I only learned after she graduated from the magnet that some kids studied for the tests to place into the magnet. I truly had no idea.
Some kids might be studying outside school but I assure you it is possible to get high enough scores to get into one of the magnets without that effort.

If MAP score in one of the main factors for admitting kids to certain middle schools & high schools and answering questions from higher grade(not yet taught to all kids in the school) is a way to get higher MAP score, how is it fair?
