I recap and put mine in the trash

A lot of people just put the cap back on after taking the shot and put it in the trash.

Have a little fit, but that’s the reality of what a lot of people do.

That’s what I do. When I started I looked up what to do with used pens and was prepared to buy something to dispose of them properly. But I concluded you could safely cap them and throw in the regular trash. I don’t see why you WOULDNT do that

Agreed, but the issue here is OP didn't look at the pen before injecting to see if it was used. That's the step to reinforce.

I look at the pen (window and exp. date) and turn it so I can see the window while I inject. I inject and then count to 6 after it's done. Mark the date in my box with a pencil I keep in there (yes in the fridge) and trash the old pen.

I’m a nurse. OP here. I take the used injection pen into work and put it in the sharps container there. And I recap it for the meantime.

Thank you all! Especially I agree that I need a better system for where I keep my already-used injector pens.

Here's what I did. I waited a couple days, ate some chocolate, noticed I seemed a lot more INTERESTED in the chocolate than I had been for a while, and took a dose like 3 days late. And, luckily, I had a dose that was at my 1.0 mg level, because when I got my 1.7s I didn't wait to use up the last of the 1.0 mg dose (because it wasn't really working for me). So I felt like that was a good choice, because MAYBE I had received the non-clicking dose, in which case I didn't want to fully double it. And probably I didn't receive it (because I didn't feel like it was working) so since I was a few days late, it made sense to take a smaller dose. And now I only have the full box of 1.7, and I'm gonna write on the box the date of each of the 4 as I take them. Lots of documentation involved, if you're absent minded like I am.

Thank you all for weighing in, so to speak. : ) I'm grateful for this medication. It's literally the only thing that worked, and I've been trying to not over-eat for at least 30 years. Now I'm either normal weight or just the slightest bit into overweight, but I like how I look and feel. It's a good result.

I switched from Wegovy - One click to Zepbound which has two clicks and a lock and unlock and a cover over where the needle comes down..

No issues though.

This is why I'm glad I'm using the vials. It was hard giving myself shots, but at least I know it's working. You're definitely not the only one I've read being confused about this - I see it all the time on the reddit zepbound sub.

I had a similar mishap when I started using the auto-pen thing for Mounjaro. I'd never used one of those before and I just hadn't fully engaged the clicker thing. Since there's no way to know if you injected yourself, but didn't realize it or if the pen was faulty or previously used, my advice is not to do anything and then do the shot at the regular time next week. I would also figure out a better system for discarding used pens so you don't inadvertently reuse a pen.

Hi all,

If you’re on Wegovy, or any of these, have you ever gone to inject, and there’s no click, and nothing seems to be happening, but then you see it looks mostly yellow in the chamber that is yellow when done?

I’m not sure if the injection went awry, if I even got an injection, or if I (stupidly) put a used injectable back in the box and forgot I had already medicated with it.

I feel pretty much the same, as if I am still covered by Wegovy. Not sure what to do. It’s been two days I think and I wouldn’t want to double dose but I also wouldn’t want to skip a dose for a week until the next one.

Has anyone had the injectable fail to inject?

How do you know your week’s dose is wearing off/it’s time for the next dose, aside from keeping track of the day you give it. Any advice?

I’m not new to this. See below.

I was on Zepbound for 9 months, and then switched to Wegovy 4 plus months ago.

Well really CareFirst switched me.

It’s been fine. I was already at maintenance, having easily lost 40 pounds as a post menopausal woman. (Yay, Zepbound).
