OP here. Thank you for all of these good suggestions. We had not considered Holy Cross, but will add it to our list to check out.

Our Lady of Lourdes has a resource department and a program for students with intellectual disabilities but my impression from visiting is that they are not sensory aware and would be a poor fit for an autistic child.

If you are open to a bit of a drive, St Jerome in Hyattsville has small groups and pullout instruction for children who need it.

St. Barts family here. Our children love the school, but the new principal seems to be prioritizing capital improvements over teacher and student support. The teachers are the heart of the school, but they are under-supported, with few full-time classroom aides and an increasingly limited student resource center. They’ve also lost some of their best, most impactful teachers over the last few years. We understand that certain capital improvements are necessary and important, but not at the expense of the quality of teachers and teaching.

Can anyone speak to the resource supports at St. Elizabeth’s in Rockville?

I *think* Our Lady of Mercy in Potomac might have a program that can help.

McLean School is not a good option for autistic students who need social or emotional support or who get overwhelmed.

Holy Cross has two excellent resource teachers (one for the lower school and one for middle school) and a part-time counselor, but I don't know what their total capacity is for 1:1. If you inquire, I would be upfront about your expectations to see if they can meet them.

What grade is the child that needs a little extra support? Also, are you open to them attending different schools and all boy/all girl schools?

We are Catholic and looking to enroll our kids in a parochial school in the Rockville, Bethesda, or Potomac area. They will be in K and 2nd grade next year. One of our children has ADHD and Level 1 autism. They are medicated and receive therapeutic support outside of school. We’re curious if any of the parochial schools have particularly strong resource centers that have the capacity to occasionally work 1:1 or in small groups with our child when they are having difficulty focusing or are feeling overwhelmed in the classroom. We are also looking at the McLean School in Potomac, but would prefer a Catholic school if possible. Thank you in advance for any insights.
