Yeah, that process takes weeks. Kid would have needed to start it back in September. Also given our wacky weather around here - can they get the 10 jobs required? If they are willing to go anywhere in the county, they probably could work every day. But if they only want certain school close, it becomes harder.

MY son has applied to several Seasonal jobs and gotten a few interviews but all have said no at the end due to the no-so flexible dates.

Any ideas? what's your college kid doing to earn extra money during the holidays?

Are you saying your kid is looking for seasonal employment - but not available during the most in demand days for retail? Or not getting a job offer? Or something else?

Continuation of restaurant job plus babysitting which honestly pays better. Tell your kid to post on the neighborhood list serv. Lots of babysitting needed around the holidays.

This. Mine picks up shifts at the restaurant where she works in the summer. But it’s not much because she isn’t going into their regular schedule, plus she also has travel conflicts. They need to make most of their spending money in the summer and save up.

Mine got hired back by the company she performed life guarding work during the summer. She gets some weekend offers now as well.

Its hard to find jobs over the winter holidays if you don't have a job you worked at last summer that will take you back - but sometimes you can find babysitting and driving gigs.
