I was a straight A student from MOÇO back in the day and went to UMD because it’s what my parents could afford. I loved it. Got a great education, made life-long friends and have a successful career. It makes me sad that my kids are unlikely to get in.

No. It's just that UMD effectively caps the number of admits from a given school, especially MCPS. It's very much school-dependent.

I depends on the school they are coming from and or contacts.

Undergrad usually 3.8 or higher unweighted

Graduate Programs much lower gpas required

My friends daughter was admitted to UMD medical school and all she had to do was make a call to her FIL .

Great school, nice campus, lots happening. Cost for us is huge as we want to pay for college and grad school no debt.

Because it's a decent university and it's not 90K a year like many other private universities? Don't be a jerk.

I don’t know the formula but my straight A student with ECs didn’t get in.

If you are from a W, you need the high grades but also the rigor. Make sure your child is taking AP classes and doing well in the tests. They also seem to prefer STEM over other things.

I’ve also seen slightly lower stats needed for some of their less popular majors like education.

How do they calculate weighted GPA?
