Will they be living in a dorm?

Different college, but for moving my daughter we used Storage Scholars. I see they service Rochester as well.

I found them easy to use. They sent us the boxes. Fedex was able to pick up the boxes from our house and Storage Scholars delivered them straight to her dorm room.

We had a DMV child go to college in the NE and we never drove it. Just so happened we never drove it, not even for freshman move-in. We are the above Fed EX customers. Also you can check extra luggage flying. Amtrak we took extra luggage.

Does the college have a message board? Can your student post on the college message board looking for someone from this area driving back to school who wants to make some money transporting the items.

We shipped Fed Ex. Our boxes were held at the Fed Ex facility at the other end. Fed Ex came to the house to pick-up. They needed some lead time for that. We needed to give them dimensions/weight of boxes ahead of time. If you don't have a ton of boxes it works.

Does housing there have suggestions? My university did including address of loading docks.

If they fly check out tradeoffs among fares, free bags, and cost per extra checked bags.

DC heading back in January to college in Rochester, NY., after an internship. We usually drive but would rather avoid that this time.

Any suggestions on best methods/carriers to ship belongings from our area? Probably several of the blue IKEA duffels although we could pack in boxes if necessary.
