LOL
My kids were recruited by coaches at Catholic HS's in the DMV. We are Jewish none asked for any certificate.

Soccer and Lax. LOL

Yes and attendance reports from mass. If you’re able to get a ledger of your church tithes that helps too.

What a ridiculous question OP.

The answer is no. A school like SJC is like 35%+ non-Catholic.

+1. If your child was baptized in a Catholic Church, this is how you get the certificate. FWIW, though, Gonzaga does not ask for a copy and I don’t think DJO does either, although both ask whether you’re Catholic and for the name of your parish. If your DS is receiving sacraments at your church, they also would have likely asked for a copy and should be able to give you one if you need it for one of these schools.

Not getting th kerfluffle comment. Was your child actually baptized? If it's just that you lost the certificate, you can get a new one from the Parish where the baptism occurred.

We did not have to but we were applying from a Catholic K-8 that did have our records, so that could be why.

What does this mean?

There is no way to be “almost” baptized. Either you are or you aren’t. It’s like being a little pregnant.

If your children are baptized, you are able to get the certificate from the parish or diocese. If your children aren’t baptized, then your only option is to get them baptized.

High schools don’t so you just write down Catholic. At least in my experience.

I seem to recall having to upload baptismal certificates for Catholic High Schools.

Your child will need the baptismal certificate if they want to be married in the Church someday.

Elementary schools require the baptismal certificate because they do sacrament prep.

We live in DC and are applying to:
Gonzaga
SJC
DJO (Bishop O'Connell)
Our Lady of Good Counsel in Olney MD
Dematha

When we applied to our parish school years ago, this was an issue I think, but I haven't thought about it again until now.

Didn’t you need a baptismal certificate for your child to go through first communion and confirmation?

If he hasn’t gone through those sacraments I don’t think he’d be considered a practicing Catholic for high school admissions purposes. If he has completed them and it’s just a case of a lost baptismal certificate they should be able to figure out a work around for you with proof of the other sacraments.
