Oof, this reminds me of my mom who keeps buying my kid Ralph Lauren shirts and polos, that end up collecting dust in the dresser. My kid is in 4th but for many years has worn any random tshirt with athletic shorts in warmer weather, and then either a long sleeve random tshirt or a solid color waffle knit top with sweatpants starting around January.

Joggers or soft chinos in various colors, and all manner of shirts - tees, polos, sweatshirts, a jersey, hoodie, sweaters, etc.

In kindergarten yes. But by second grade his wardrobe is exclusively sports jerseys and leggings with the shorts over them.

Sweatpants are great if you have the kind of boy who waits until the last minute to go to the bathroom. Buttons can be tough.

Shorts and jerseys almost exclusively. Occasionally, I'll make him wear pants and they will be sweat pants.
Even his "nice" pants are pretty much sweat pants that look nice

At home? Underwear only. He hates wearing clothes, even if it's below freezing out. Drives me crazy.

Out and about, he currently goes for the under armor cold weather leggings with shorts over them and some sort of hoodie/t-shirt mix.

Slacks, button down, blazer, loafers.

Um…no, this is not mainstream. Have you not seen what other kids are wearing? You are dressing your son like a 50 yr old dad.

Sounds like a school uniform. My kids wear cargo pants, t-shirt and hoodie. No uniform.

Joggers/sweatpants and tees or hoodies for boys. No elementary kid is just walking around in chinos and a polo shirt unless it's a required school uniform or a special occasion.
