This could describe any local Catholic high school open house.

We’re going to Field’s open house December 13.

Shadow day scheduling really depends on the school. Some offer more in Jan and Feb to help families make decisions even after applications are in. And many have opportunities for accepted students to shadow (for a first or second time) after decisions come out.

So you weren't actually considering sending your kid to private school or you just came here to be an arse.

That was my case. No school impressed me relative to my local public. I guess it’s ok to have freedom to choose.

Holton. It is very engaging with the students because the kids can go in to different classrooms and do hands on things and chat with teachers. It also feels most inclusive and welcoming.

Not DC but Baltimore.

Friends: very eager and friendly. Open house was during school day so it only attracted people genuinely interested. Head spoke. Did find the school environment bustling and slightly chaotic but in a good way. Kid was very taken by the school.

Gilman: weekend open house. Student tours. No real information session nor did any senior admin speak. We went right into the tours. Student guide was a highly impressive young man. Faculty reps at each department were pleasant. Standards are clearly high. Overall vibe was more indifferent than Friends, they're not selling the school to prospective families insomuch as going through the motions, which is understandable as Gilman gets no shortage of applicants. Left with overall impression of seriousness but in a good way.

St. Pauls: similar to Friends in rolling out the red carpet. School in session. Friendly vibe, basically the conservative twin of Friends in every way. Lovely campus.

Loyola Blakefield: weekend open house. Crowded. Very popular school. You can really pick up the Catholic vibes as so many families were from the k-8 parochial schools and a strong pervasive presence of ancient Catholic traditions despite also not being dogmatic. Gorgeous campus. I was impressed.

Visiting McDonogh late this year due to all earlier tours fully booked.
