Why would you apply if you can’t pay for it? I don’t understand letting your kid apply without running the NPC.

I'm surprised when people get surprised by the price tags of schools. That was known about every school where DC applied, from the less expensive in state options to high cost schools like USC and Miami. We didn't know the merit that places like Miami would offer, but we knew the initial cost of every school before DC pressed submit.

“My son got into UMich RD OOS last year for engineering after being deferred in EA. 1510, 4.0UW which didn’t change in the fall of senior year, lots of AP and DE classes.
He didn’t enroll, but it was in his top 2. I’m not sure how much the deferral mattered vs if he had just applied RD.”

….and this is why Michigan started using ED. Don’t be surprised if he’s deferred in the RD round.

A friend of ours tried for Ivy’s ED/EA and got shutout. Ended up doing RD to Michigan and got accepted and is a current freshman there.

This is the first year Michigan has had ED, so nobody knows what RD will look like, other than probably more difficult than in the past.

My son's bestie now wants to apply to Mich. Is this a long shot during RD round? Public school w no guidance and the HS is def not a feeder, but very good EC and a 1540 SAT. GPA is good but again, just a random hs where everyone has a good GPA
