Put the goggles strap underneath the swim cap, not over the top. Makes all the difference.

My 8 year old is a club swimmer and loves the Arena Cobra goggles. They are adult goggles but come with different nose bridge sizes so they can work for kids. He puts his cap on over the strap with helps them stay in place and not come off. Also dive technique has a lot to do with losing/not losing your goggles, and that comes with practice.

Great tip. That new system looks much better.

My child had a lot of goggles issues at that age but eventually settled on the Vanquisher Jr 2.0 after much experimentation. He's been using the same pair for 18 months now, for both practices and meets.

1. Find swimming goggles that are comfortable. Doesn’t matter what kind as long as they’re not made for scuba diving or something ridiculous. Adjust the straps to an appropriate setting.

2. Have your kid push them firmly into his/her eye sockets as part of the pre-race checklist just before stepping onto the block.

Goggles will stay put.

My kid loves the Speedo Hydrospex.

The Speedo Vanquishers are recommended a lot for kids but we found they busted the nose pieces regularly. Having more luck for our 7 and 9 year olds with Arena Python and Tracks, using one of the smaller nose pieces that are supplied in the box.

Any tips on brands/types goggles that stay put during races for an 8 year old? We have some issues with losing them when diving off the blocks - coach will hopefully work with him on technique, etc. too.
Also, about how long should a pair of goggles last?
My kid loves swimming but my husband and I are not swimmers so have a lot to learn.
