I’ve worked in Pharma and biotech. All the sales gals and guys had degrees. Half had MBAs. Some were PharmDs.

In general, people with degrees make more over the long haul. They have more depth and are more polished and educated.

No degree people tend to have a glass ceiling.

If he wants to pound the pavement for 40-50 years, I suppose no degree is ok, but a degree in something would be better.

I think a lot sdr/bdr positions are being offshored/replaced by AI. I have no idea where young folks would get experience to progress to management.

Im in software sales. At my company the sales team looks like this-
CEO: bachelor's IT, MBA
CRO: bachelor's marketing, masters international business
VP of sales: bachelor's nursing
Solution Execs: bachelor's psych / bachelor's music / bachelor's business/ 2 with no degrees
SDRs: bachelor's education / 2 with no degrees

SDRs make $75-90k, SEs make $100-180k

Are we continuing to move in a direction where degrees are not necessary for sales careers? Is there a cap on career potential? Are there certain sales fields, such as software or medical, that have more of a need for degrees? I am trying to figure out the best options to suggest for my child who does not want to pursue a degree but wants to do sales.
