Just saw this on streaming. For reference, I loved The Lobster and The Favorite, like Poor Things ok.

Well acted, interesting story. Could see the ending coming very easily. Jesse Plemons is amazing, Emma Stone is good. Interesting but not as much of a surprise or a thinker of a movie as his other movies. I also probably wouldn’t choose to watch it again, but I would watch Lobster or Favorite again.

I enjoyed it, mainly for the performances of Emma Stone and Jesse Plemens, for the ridiculousness and humor of many parts of it.

But I found the violence / gore kind of excessive and it really was a much more slight story than his previous films.

I am glad I watched it but I'd not rewatch this one, whereas I would rewatch his other films.

For people who have seen this and have seen other movies by Yorgos Lanthimos, how does it compare with those. I loved the Favorite, liked the Lobster, but absolutely *hated* Poor Things and stopped watching about 30 minutes in because I was so irritated and repulsed by the tone of the movie and especially Emma Stone's portrayal (and I normally like her as an actor). Like I had an extremely negative, visceral reaction to it.

So wondering where Begonia lands on that scale. I like weird, artsy movies generally.

I wanted a little more backstory on Emma Stone's character, but in the end it really didn't matter.

I thought the performances in this were really, really good, but the message was as subtle as a sledgehammer. I could have done without the serial killer-ish revelation and the mom dying.

I'm glad I didn't go see this one in the theater.

I saw it yesterday. I have mixed feelings about it. I wanted to see it early in its run so it wouldn't be spoiled for me.

Movie was chugging along and I was thinking OK this is good that it's not too violent. Then, well, it got pretty awful in terms of violence. Not my jam.

I'll try to be vague about the plot twist, so as not to spoil for anyone else. But anyone at all concerned about spoilers, best not to read my post any further.

I guessed the plot twist based on the trailer (and I'm usually not very good at that sort of thing). So for me it was fun while watching the movie to waver back and forth between thinking X or not-X, so to speak.

I actually wished there was more about the plot-twisty part rather than the focus on Teddy.

Have you seen this movie? First half of the movie was really 2025’s Falling Down (Michael Douglas) to me.
