It's a way to get government benefits with less likelyhood of having to be shipped out or be put in any danger.
Not a fulltime job at all. But you have to put your reserve status before any civilian job if called up.

Dont know why you’d say that- I just wanted to understand before speaking. Geez.

No. There is a nasty condescending tone to your post. NP

I think she will soon be deployed to blue US cities to intimidate the citizens.

Congratulations should be given regardless, even if you don't know what the honor entails exactly, just due to the social context of a proud parent posting about their child's achievements. You get that, right, OP?

Now if you come on here to ask what exactly the achievement is, then sure.

It’s pretty impressive that she did so well on her exams.

Yikes. If you’re an adult & don’t know what military reservists do, you might consider expanding your social circle to include some people who at least watched a few episodes of McHale’s Navy.

It says nothing about a job.

Why don't you ask the "friend" who posted it?

But what does it mean to be in the reserves exactly? What are you reserved to do?

I believe it means you participate in military training regularly and can get called up to do military things -- fight wars, etc -- when needed. It's usually in addition to a full time job, although you have to be ready to give up your regular life at a moment's notice.

+1 One weekend a month and two weeks a year. It’s not enough to be one’s only job but it is a job.

It’s a simple Google search, OP.

A distant friend posted "I am proud to announce my daughter, Captain Monica Gellar graduated from the U.S. Air Force Reserve Officer Training School and earned Distinguished Graduate honors."

What does that mean? She's in the reserves or she now has a full time job? What does she DO for a job for them?
