full pay, humanities, boy.

I feel like it's hard bcs unless you know the HS, the GPA reads so low. And I think places like Michigan must cull via AI now.

That's why school profiles are an important part of the process. And if the school is truly a "feeder," then: (1) AOs will be fully aware of how the GPA reads relative to other schools; and (2) your school's college counseling office should have excellent data on which to base recommendations.

I'm confused by what you mean by "feeder school". If you're truly at a feeder in the broad sense of the word (i.e. a top high school that performs extremely well across the board with elite colleges) then a 3.8 is undoubtedly a decent GPA and schools like Michigan will admit this kid.

Feeder school: sends at least 15% to ivy; or 25%+ to T20+T10lac; or 40%+ to T30.

Very good shot at one of Vanderbilt, Georgetown, Hopkins.

That SAT is a guaranteed admit for Michigan. 95% of Michigan students score BELOW that on the SAT.

Emory is a target if ED, but if ED really a safety.

If demonstrated interest, very good chance at Tufts, NYU, BU, BC, Northeastern.

UVA is a likely if you decide to stay in state.

What is major?

Agree with this but if you want the Ivies, Vanderbilt, Georgetown, JHU you will need to ED/SCEA.
RD is an slim chance at any of these schools for this kid because it's just a lottery at that point. Maybe his number will be taken, maybe it won't.

Schools such as Vassar, Hamilton and Kenyon may be suitable for this student.

Regional preference? School size? Urban/rural? Interests for FUN (NOT college application)?

Michigan has regional reps that know the rigor and gpas at the high schools in their territory. Michigan converts the gpa to their own standard, unweighted GPA and look at it holistically to assess rigor. Google it. They are transparent. With 100,000+ applications, they probably use AI at least a bit.

Good lord. Wesleyan is not a safety for this kid.

Fine. Low hanging target. About 50% acceptance rate at our private.

Wesleyan is a target. I know DCUM disses it, but it's not a safety school for anyone.
