Calf stretches but hold for at least 2 minutes. Multiple times a day.

I had PF for two years. A spiky massage ball resolved it finally. Tight calves also play in.

If you are young enough to become an infantry officer, you have plenty of time for dreams and for fixing your PF. Are you overweight? I had PF for years that resolved immediately on losing weight.

It sucked because one of my dreams was to become an infantry officer, but that is dead now. MRIs and X rays showed nothing, so I am hopeless now

that's an odd dream. who dreams about becoming an infantry officer?

Enough that there are far more applicants than spots available

Have you tried dry needling?

I had PF for a year and did a lot of the that recommendations. Once I got serious with yoga and did a ton of downward dogs and stretched out my calves, it disappeared.

Don’t give up, op.

Surgery is dangerous and can easily make things worse

+1. That should be ultimate last resort.

Prednisone worked for me eventually.

Try acupuncture and thai massage. Sometimes foot pain comes from muscle knots in calves. I had years of pf. Try all things at once. Anti inflammatory meds and food, stretching, thai massage, acupuncture, strengthening feet. Sleep with the braces. Check your shoes. Topo makes great sneakers for people with pf.

Of course I would be upset if I was in chronic pain for five years. No, night splints don’t help

Are you depressed? Hopeless is a strong word. Do you brace your foot at night?

I started running five years ago, and I ended up with chronic feet pain that won’t go away. Doctors say it’s plantar fasciitis, and I tried everything from physical therapy, steroid injections, icing, rolling feet on ball, and more. Nothing worked. It sucked because one of my dreams was to become an infantry officer, but that is dead now. MRIs and X rays showed nothing, so I am hopeless now
