That's disheartening. I've always thought that if I lost my professional job, and knowing that it takes months to get a new one even in a good economy, I could at least dust off my 20+ year old waitressing skills...

The person who keeps posting this suggestion, if I understand correctly, IS a restaurant worker. Other telltale signs of this poster:

1. A comment about how multiple bosses keep asking them to come back to work
2. Outlandish claims about their investing prowess (e.g., they made massive amounts of money off of a minimum wage restaurant salary and are now retired).
3. Similar ridiculous claims about their children’s employability and investing prowess (“my son got 25 restaurant offers without even applying, but he’s also so good at investing that he will be able to retire at 30”)

I can’t tell if they are trolling or just a weirdo.

Some places have “we’re hiring” signs, but they’re not actually hiring. It’s to make customers less upset about slow service.

It seems like despite so many people out of job, I still see "we're hiring" signs at restaurants.

I think people recommend them because it seems like restaurants have a high turnover rate. Many people can't last more than 6 months working in a restaurant. The restaurant industry is a different beast.

They want you to serve them. It’s not about you, it’s about their wants.
