Their website is still under construction, but the Google results show contact information:

" Please contact us via: EMAIL: Rhonda Sabater at rhonda.ssmapcs@gmail .com. or. Katherine Avery at avery.ssmapcs@gmail.com"

The school will have PS3, PK4 and kindergarten classes this fall. The lottery was only for PS3 because there were still open spots for the older grades. Some PS applicants were waitlisted, but it's likely there will be quite a bit of waitlist movement because the school is new and unproven. It's still worthwhile applying to any of the grades for anyone interested in this new charter Montessori option.

PP: "Got into both SS and AppleTree. It's going to be a hard decision. AppleTree is a known quatity, so it would be an easy choice. Of course it only goes to PK and I think my son would benefit from a montessori progam."

We're trying to decide between these two schools as well, would be interested in further discussion.

Because it is Montessori, I suspect they will only admit students at ages 3 and/or 4. Therefore, the school will grow beyond 3rd grade, but it is unlikely that new students will come in after 1st grade without a Montessori background.

We applied to Shining Stars but don't yet know the outcome. We also have a very good WL# for LAMB. If our kid gets into both, we aren't sure which one we will choose.

"education for at-risk children ages 3-12 in the District of
Columbia"

They are slated to go beyond 3rd grade.

We received our card today as well. We have decided to go with a bilingual DCPS instead.

Why not? (Not doubting you or picking a fight, just wondering.)

It's not what I am looking for in a school.

I do know someone who is excied about being accepted. It's because the school accepts late birthdays so their son will get one more free year of prek3 before they transfer to DCPS next year under sibling preference. They can stop paying for daycare

We got into Shining Star, recieved the post card today. Quite excited about the program, especially the Montessori aproach. Also got into Apple Tree CH and will need to decide. Apple Tree is an established program, Shining Stars is not. Shining Stars will go up to 3rd grade, we wouldnt need to move in two years as with Apple Tree.

Don't know if they've even held a lottery yet.

Anyone have info about this newly approved charter school? We're interested in Montessori options for our son who will be three in 2011 and it seems like the current public options are pretty heavily subscribed. Thanks!
