Wait, why not the dishwasher? Is it because it'll wear out faster? I'm ok with that. Was not intending to leave any wooden spoon bequests in my will.

Although now that I think about it, I might. My favorite one since college (a spoon with a flat edge for scraping up fond) gets nearly daily use, and therefore daily trips through the dishwasher, and is holding up just fine.

Mine have darkened in areas over the years. I really don't care if they don't look brand new and pretty.

I don't oil mine, I've had them since 1990. When my son was a toddler I'd let him use them to beat on drums (aka ice cream bucket) and one split then.

Always hand wash. It takes all of 30 seconds. Only rubes put them in the dishwasher 🙄

Spatula goes in the dishwasher. I am 57. I think I am on my 3rd one. I do not own a wooden spool but my wooden salad tongs get hand washed.

Hand wash, never letting them soak in water. Dry immediately. Apply a spoon butter once a month or so to prevent them from drying out.
