What helped you? I think I'm going to need to give up dairy to get back to clear skin

Yeah, I had to change my diet for a few years. Can still have milk in my coffee but no cheese!

I seem to be the opposite. I think I'm okay with hard cheeses but if I have cream in my coffee or a matcha latte or whipped cream I get these huge cystic welts.

I have had good luck with Panoxyl. I saw it on some IG reel and it has done wonders for my skin. Way better than the expensive cleansers I was using.

I also stopped using makeup unless needed. Seems like my skin has gotten really sensitive and things that never bothered it now cause breakouts.

Dermatologist and diet. Acne is often caused by inflammation in middle age.

I had to make sure no silicone in moisturizer and make up. Super careful about face washing at night.

A nightmare - wish I had taken it more seriously when I was your age (now in mid 50s) because I have scarring on my chin and large pores now. Didn't know how to deal with it because I had beautiful, clear skin as a young person.

Definitely go to derm.

This! I have always had clear skin. But once 36 hit I started getting those super deep and painful pimples (cystic acne?). It would just be one, but it would takes weeks to resolve, then leave an ugly red mark for MONTHS. As soon as the dark spot mostly faded, another painful pimple would start again. I felt like I was always in this cycle of having a painful pimple or faded the mark it left behind.

Tretinoin plus azelic acid did the trick. I haven’t had a pimple in years!

I tried spironolactone earlier this year. I attained beautiful skin but had side effects and had to go off. I've since had great luck with a combination of glycolic+salicylic acid wash in the AM, and BP cleanser plus tretinoin in the PM.

Spironolactone is the only thing that helped me. I’ve taken it for years and recently tapered from 100mg to 50mg daily. I’m 42.

Go to a dermatologist. If you've never had adult acne something triggered it. Antibiotics help.
