Did you get a copy of the report? What was the BIRADS number? That tells you how likely it is to be cancer. 5 or 6 is concerning. A 4 could go either way. 3 or less and it’s very unlikely. For reference, I got called back and recommended for a biopsy with a mass that was scored as a 4. It turned out to be benign.

Ok so I’ll share my story and give you some hope. I had a well subscribed mass as well and went all the way to biopsy. It was benign. I am 50, mom and grandmother both had bc post menopause. I am just closing in on officially menopausal and they all said it was looking benign but with my history and age they had to do the biopsy.

Mine was originally thought to be a rogue lymph node - cue lymphoma worries - but was a simple cyst just deep (dense breasts, 34D).

People would say don’t worry till there’s a reason to worry. That doesn’t help. I would set aside 1/2 hour for Google and message board rabbit holes and then I’d cut myself off. I dedicated 15 min each morning to worrying and usually crying. The rest of my day I tried to tell myself - worry time today is over.

The odds are on your side.

I had a concerning finding on my first mammogram and the diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound led to a needle biopsy and then they were still concerned so they recommended a surgical biopsy. It was all really stressful (made worse because I switched insurance in the middle of all this), and then it turned out to be completely benign. I got a call back the next time too and this time I didn't worry at all, and fortunately this time the diagnostic mammogram was clear.

Bright side is it takes more to get me to worry now, but I definitely still get my mammograms.

I wish people would stop saying this. I waited a month between my screening and diagnostic mammogram and it was cancer. Cancer is usually not an emergency and the time for a callback is a function of how busy they are.

That said, circumscribed is good sign. Well defined borders are generally not consistent with cancer.

Hang in there, OP. Most callbacks end up being fine, but if not, breast cancer is generally highly treatable.

I get called back almost every year (it has always been ok). Its so stress inducing so I can empathize. Why my best friend got called back they wanted her in the next day and hers was worrisome. I don't know if that helps at all. Hang in there.

Small mass with circumscribed margins. I know it could be a cyst, but it could not be,too.

The reason I am worried is that I've had 2 CT scans and a nuclear stress scans in 2 years recently for other things.

Ultrasound won't be for 3 weeks. It's going to be a long three weeks.
