Not OP but my husband grew up amidst two wars and had no toys. My aunt grew up in an abusive home and only did chores. Not everyone has the same life experiences.

My 6th grader with an early September birthday will play dolls with her younger cousin for hours. There was also a 6th grader in her school who was pregnant last year in 6th. I’ll take the dolls any day.

It's not immature at all, she's a kid. I question the actual maturity of those kids trying to act way older. She's 12, what's she supposed to do?

It could be a sign that she'll end up in a caring career -- teacher, nurse, doctor, hospitality.

I don't think it's a sign of immaturity. But even if it were, who cares? One or two random immature things about a kid is not a disaster.

No, that’s totally sweet and normal. My DS (and his friends) were definitely still into littler kid stuff well into 7th grade (like stuffies and Disney characters).

Nope, not at all, it's actually a great thing imo. Kids5 are growing up way too fast.

No worries. And in a way it's great to allow that joy of childhood to continue. My 84 year old mom still collects and dresses dolls. Not imaginative play. But it still brings her happiness.

To me our role is to expose kids to different hobbies but let them choose their own. If she still likes playing with dolls, then great.

Let her enjoy her childhood for crying out loud. There is nothing wrong with playing with dolls at 11.

Is it a sign of immaturity that my 11 yr old (6th grader with early Sept bday) still likes to play with dolls? Many of her friends have never been into dolls to begin with but now they almost all like video games, sports they play and you tube etc… My DD seems to be the only one who still plays with kid toys like AG and Barbie. She still wants AG stuff for birthdays and Christmas. Part of me prefers imaginative play to video games but I’m also concerned she it is not age appropriate. FWIW she is small for her age and hasn’t started puberty yet. Maybe I’m worrying over nothing?
