Just an update for anyone in the same situation:

NCSU - resent the portal email and said it had bounced back.

UMD - sees the application and says we should get a portal email within 48 hours, if not call back on Friday.

VA Tech said the emails were going out this morning and to check back by Friday if not received.

Penn State - called, requested a call back and sent email inquiry, waiting to hear back

My dc applied a week earlier and VT took a few days. So I would not be surprised that they have not received it yet - but definitely by end of week

Check junk or that email account is receiving email ok. Penn State came very fast.

Def follow up with school

After checking junk etc, follow up with school to ensure application was submitted successfully. Good luck.

Check junk email. Kid found two there.

My child is still waiting on the portal set up emails from UMD, NC State, Penn State and VA Tech. The 7 other schools to which he applied sent portal emails immediately and we have already verified the application is complete/linked STARS, etc. Anyone else still waiting on these emails?
