I don’t think you get that it takes all different kinds of people:

- kids whose sole focus is a sport

- kids who grind academics with a particular goal in mind

- kids who are extroverts and try lots of different activities

- kids who are introverts and like quiet solo activities + school

Etc

Many won’t achieve goals they are trying to attain but they should still go for them if they want to.

Don’t you think this could hurt? I mean, people post how a lower SAT or a superscore v a one sitting SAT should hurt…this is a significant thing that differentiates applicants, just like senior year grades. If it meant nothing, they wouldn’t ask except with regard to grades after acceptance to reconsider an acceptance.

Often what happens is they will defer these kids and then wait to see what happens by the end of the semester. All RD kids (new apps and deferred kids) will be required to submit first semester grades.

Make sure you senior remains locked in and gets those grades up.

Same issue, OP. And my kid’s was one point away and already an “A” now 2 weeks letter. Also, no +/- so it’s recorded as a “B”. Otherwise has an us 4.0. The HS is semester based so that first quarter is not indicative of the final grade, the midterm will be an “A”. The first quarter is also the most stringent grading period at our HS, particularly in writing courses.
