I actually think it’s a fairly real depiction of an er even today-much more so than greys anatomy and the like. But the fact that there are no cell phones is really wild-like doctors calling the hospital back from pay phones.

The Pitt was supposed to be an ER spinoff called "Carter" but Michael Crichton's widow would not give permission to use his intellectual property. That is why Noah Wiley is playing an ER doctor with a different name and backstory.
