OP, you need to get all the blood work done for your hormones, thyroid, iron and all the other things. This could be a major medical problem. Also, continue the work in therapy and go and see a psychiatrist.

You will get a better range of options if you see a psychiatrist rather than your PCP.

No wonder a lot of marriages break during peri and menopause because we don't stay same and a lot of other hormonal changes on top of decline in physical health. I get jealous of my friends who are able to keep their marriages intact during perimenopause phase.

This is what we call managing the symptoms but not fixing the root cause of the problem.

This is all semantics. You are just saying you prefer a non-medication approach to alleviating symptoms.

Talk with Jenna - she listens and treats the root cause not just the symptoms: https://discovherhealth.com/

OP if you have bern both depressed and anxious at the same time, used to be called agitated depression, be cautious about Prozac or other SSRIs. They can make people with undiagnosed bipolar 2 manic. I found out the hard way with a sample. pack of Lexapro from my PCP.

Omg Prozac! Or maybe some hrt will be far safer and more effective… find an obgyn that says they specialize in perimenopause. It’s hard to find the right doc but I’d start there. Other option imo is an endocrinologist that specializes in women’s health.

42 years old. Cycles have been of varying length for about a year now (between 24-29 days, used to be 28 days like clockwork). Have not been feeling myself at all the past several months, and I'm not snapping out of it. I'm not as interested in things that used to interest me, I'm unmotivated, having mood swings, intrusive thoughts related to past abuse (that had basically gone away thanks to a lot of work in therapy), and just having a hard time coping with life. I have 3 kids and two with special needs, so that adds to the everyday stress.

I'd like to try medication (I'm already in therapy), but I'm not sure who to see for this.
