Amherst is not anywhere near Boston

“BU” is awful….

My kid loves it at BU, though I guess the school isn’t for everyone.
She’s pretty independent and very proactive, so I think she’s at the right school for her.

Their sticker price is high, but they offer generous financial aid.

Tell the OP that BU and Northeastern get the most number of applications of any private college in the US beside NYU.

I think that the city of Boston is still an "okay" draw.

Harvard and MIT are desirable. BU and BC are not.

Not sure what your talking about. BU gets north of 80,000 apps. Northeastern gets more than 100,000.

For comparison, Princeton in New Jersey gets about 40,000 apps. Which is roughly comparable to what Boston College gets.

I think the Boston schools are doing just fine.

NEU is pretty popular, but I think the “you aren’t really able to start at the Boston campus” reality is likely bringing the likeability down.

Boston’s a tough town - you’ve got to want it, be pretty independent and able to figure it out on your own. With the exception of BC, which might be more of a cohesive campus, these campuses don’t offer a traditional experience. DH describes it as Darwinian (he went to BU), and after living there a few years personally, that’s pretty accurate. He did not enjoy his time at BU at all.

Then there’s the weather.

BU and NEU are in the top 10 of most applied to schools. Is this a troll?

Nova - My DC thought they'd apply to Boston schools until we visited. They like BU more on paper than in person. NEU just wasn't their vibe. Tufts was too small and the BC just didn't appeal to them. They loved Boston and would like one of those schools for grad school, but it solidified they wanted. a different undergrad experience.
